Post-op lymphatic massage in Miami

Post-op lymphatic massage usually starts a few days to a week after liposuction or a BBL, only with your surgeon's approval. Many Miami practices suggest a series of sessions, often five to ten or more. It should be done by a Florida-licensed massage therapist and should feel firm but not severely painful. Postpone it if you have a fever, an open wound, signs of infection or a swollen, painful calf.

What should I ask a massage provider?

Your therapist's full name and Florida license number. Check it on the DOH license portal.
Post-surgical training and experience with your procedure
In-office or mobile? Mobile visits to hotels, Airbnbs and recovery houses are common in Miami.
Price per session and per package, and whether a package is refundable if your surgeon pauses massage
What techniques they use, including any devices, wraps or tape, and whether your surgeon approves them

What if I fly home before I finish?

Ask your surgeon how many sessions to have in Miami and get a written note to take to a therapist at home. Many patients finish their series after returning.

When should massage be postponed?

Fever, an open or draining wound, signs of infection, a swollen painful calf, or rapidly increasing swelling. Call your surgeon instead. Warning signs

Can a family member do my lymphatic massages at home?

A family member can't provide professional massage therapy, but your surgeon or therapist may teach gentle self-care techniques. Ask what is safe for you, and avoid forceful pressure on fresh tissue or grafted fat.

Should lymphatic massage hurt?

It should feel firm but not severely painful. Aggressive, very painful "fibrosis breaking" on fresh tissue is a common complaint. Tell the therapist to stop if pain is sharp, and ask your surgeon about any technique that worries you.
